The reason, according to Colin Kolles, is that Yamamoto doesn’t feel well because of food poisoning.

It will be good to see Christian Klien back in Formula 1 which he joined in 2004 for Jaguar coming directly from Formula 3. Klien’s last racing in Formula 1 was in 2006 for Red Bull Racing and he has since then been a test driver for Honda Racing F1 Team and BMW Sauber F1 Team as well as driving the Peugeot LMP1 prototype successfully at the Le Mans 24 Hour race in 2009.

It will also be interesting to see Bruno Senna going head to head with a driver of proper F1 talent for a change.

Crash.net are reporting that Ferrari’s new KERS system may not be ready for the opening race at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. Teams like BMW Sauber and McLaren have been testing their KERS systems during recent testing but Ferrari has been a bit behind on the new system.

The Kinetic Energy Recovery System will be used to boost the car’s performance by recovering the normally wasted kinetic energy generated by the car’s braking process. This energy will the be stored using either a flywheel or a battery and then be made available to the driver via a “boost button” on the steering wheel. The power gain will be regulated to approximately 80 horsepower.

“We’re working a lot on the energy recovery system,” the Ferrari technicians said. “We’re a bit behind on our schedule, but our goal is to be ready with a working KERS for the first race, which will be held in Australia. Meanwhile we’re also appraising the car without KERS.

The eighteen year old driver completed 26 laps.

Eng said: “This has been a fantastic experience. I quickly got used to the car and gained confidence with every kilometre. You soon work out where the ideal points are for gear shifting, and also learn the perfect braking points. It’s a very nice feeling if you can improve lap-by-lap.”

The previous World Final winners to have been given the F1 test prize are 2005 winner Marco Holzer and 2006 winner Christian Vietoris.
