Virgin Honda
The Honda Formula 1 team has now confirmed that they are negotiating with Richard Branson’s Virgin Group and that they have made a bid to purchase the team.
“We are negotiating with several buyers and one of these parties is the Virgin Group,” a Honda spokesperson said.
According to sources close to the deal Crash.net reported that Virgin was in fact the first party to approach Honda regarding a possible takeover, ten days before it was even announced that the F1 operation was up for sale. According to Crash.net Richard Branson was suggested to make a bid by his close friend Adrian Reynard of Reynard Motorsport that a bid into the world of Formula 1 would not be bad for the Virgin brand.
Richard Branson was a minority shareholder in the British American Racing Team, the team that later was aquired by Honda. Time to go full-circle?
