Sebastian Hohenthal confirmed for Formula Two
The 2006 UK Formula Renault champion and 2007 and 2008 British F3 race winner Sebastian Hohenthal will be joining the Formula Two grid for the inaugural 2009 season.
Hohenthal becomes the seventh driver to be confirmed so far in what is set to be a highly competitive inaugural season, and the 24 year old Swedish driver is relishing the challenge: “I’m delighted to be joining Formula Two in 2009,” said Hohenthal. “For me the new F2 championship couldn’t have been any better timed and with Williams being involved in the project, there is no doubt that the cars will be fantastic as well. Bring on 2009!”
He won the 2006 Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship, in which he scored seven wins and five further podiums in 20 races, including a double win at Donington Park: “I’m really looking forward to racing at places like Donington, which will be preparing to host the British Grand Prix in 2010,” said the Swede. “The F2 car is going to be a lot quicker than anything I am used to, but I have a good knowledge of the UK circuits and I’m confident that I can do well. Of course I’m realistic, but the only way to approach it is to aim for the top.”
