BMW Dealer Team UK will join SEAT on the British Touring Car Championship side-lines during the 2009 season. The team’s sponsor Accident Exchange will drop out for 2009 but hints on returning for 2010.

“Experts are telling us that the current economic downturn is going to be a long-term issue and we feel that it is important to concentrate our financial spend on providing better support to our BMW dealer partners in the coming period,” Accident Exchange chief executive Steve Evans explained, “We felt it was more appropriate to assist them in retaining customers and converting new business opportunities into profit over the next twelve months.”

BMW Dealer Team UK ran a single car for Mat Jackson during 2008 and after five wins and ten podium finishes he finished second in the championship. Jackson now joins the SEAT drivers Jason Plato and Darren Turner in the touring car unemployment line.
